Reynolds Handi-Vac Vacuum Sealer

Handi_vac_vacuum_sealer I ran across an article on the Reynolds Handi-Vac Vacuum Sealer on the San Francisco Chronicle and it got me thinking about this alternative vacuum sealer.

The Handi-Vac is a lot less expensive than the FoodSaver sealers and it is also much smaller, which is very helpful around the kitchen. You still have to buy bags for it which definitely adds to the cost.

The Reynolds Handi-Vac seemed to work great at first, easily sucking all the air out of my bag. However, when I went to get it later I could see that most of the vacuum had gone away. This was the case for the majority of bags I tried using this on.

It was definitely easy to use and I would consider using it much more if it actually held the air in. For now though I'll stick to my FoodSaver and the Handi-Vac is going into the garbage.
